Great design, easy to position on the wall

Sitka Serenity - the perfect West Coast decor (and some tips for hanging it)

I recently purchased the 60" x 17" Sitka Tree for a feature wall in my entry. It's absolutely stunning and the perfect addition to my North Vancouver home. Before its arrival, I wasn't sure about the weight or mounting system (this would be great information to add to the product page), but I was pleasantly surprised it was lighter than I expected -- my guess would be 8lbs. There's a sawtooth hanger 2.5" from the top of the tree. The tree's weight can be supported with one drywall anchor or a nail in a stud. In addition to the sawtooth hanger, there are five spacers welded on the back of the tree to keep it proportionately spaced from the wall, and three spacers with fastener holes to secure the tree and prevent it from swinging. I read Carol's review below (June 2, 2020) about the crooked spacers and instead of trying to fasten them, I purchased mounting putty and used it on the back of each spacer and fastener. I highly recommend this approach as the putty prevents the wall from getting scraped, prevents the tree from swinging, and solves any crooked fastener concerns. I have a white wall and chose white mounting putty, but one could always use touch-up paint over the putty (once mounted) to match their existing wall or some black paint to match the tree.

All this said, my new Sitka Tree is now beautifully and securely displayed and puts a smile on my face each time I see it.

I love the tree

I bought just one tree and it looks awesome on my wall. The only issue I have is the piece welded on the back for the nail to go through is crooked so the tree does not hang flush against the wall. It wouldn't matter if it were hanging up in a stairwell far from your eyes but mine hangs right above the toilet and can be scrutinized closely. I've tried bending the thing to make the tree lie flat but to no avail. But this is a minor thing. I'd buy more of these for sure.

This magnificent piece was designed by accomplished First Nations artist Noel Brown and fabricated in steel or aluminum by BC artist Jack Willoughby. Noel is a member of the Snuneymuxw First Nation on the east coast of Vancouver Island. He began carving professionally in 1995 and received inspiration from James Lewis, a prominent Northwest Coast artist. He has also worked and learned from other talented individuals such as Richard Baker, Matthew Baker and Darin Lewis. Noel is renowned for his Coast Salish Art and clean designs. His art can be found in galleries and private collections around the world. His carvings are on public display at the Nanaimo BC Museum, as well as at the BC Ferries Departure Bay terminal, cruise ship terminal, and other public areas.
