Jack's career as an artist began in steel working, then teaching metal work at a Vancouver college where the freedom to create his own designs soon led him to start up Anvil Island Design. This magnificent piece was designed by accomplished First Nations artist Noel Brown and fabricated in steel or aluminum by BC artist Jack Willoughby. Noel is a member of the Snuneymuxw First Nation on the east coast of Vancouver Island. He began carving professionally in 1995 and received inspiration from James Lewis, a prominent Northwest Coast artist. He has also worked and learned from other talented individuals such as Richard Baker, Matthew Baker and Darin Lewis. Noel is renowned for his Coast Salish Art and clean designs. His art can be found in galleries and private collections around the world. His carvings are on public display at the Nanaimo BC Museum, as well as at the BC Ferries Departure Bay terminal, cruise ship terminal, and other public areas.
This Coast Salish Killer Whale wall sculpture (or Orca as it often referred to) is a stunning Canadian statement piece, available in cold rolled steel or aluminum, and in several sizes.
