Canada is home to roughly 60% of the world's polar bears!

Perhaps no other animal symbolizes Canada better than the polar bear. It is not our official national animal (the beaver is) but in many ways it represents the quintessential Canadian north. Polar bears live in the arctic (they are not found in Antarctica). Although there are five countries with polar bears, roughly 60% of the world's polar bears live in Canada. The Inuit word for polar bear is Nanuq.
